Since you bring personal items to the shift at your own risk, we strongly recommend leaving expensive valuables at home and, if necessary, bringing your own padlock for the lockers at the workplace. Additionally, we advise you to always choose comfortable, weather-appropriate, and durable clothing for your shifts, which is allowed to get a bit dirty during work.
For personal items and clothing that you bring to the shift, we generally cannot guarantee protection or replacement. Therefore, we ask you to avoid bringing valuable items or delicate clothing to your shift whenever possible.
This means: If you bring personal belongings to work, it is fundamentally at your own risk.
Items you should preferably leave at home
- Larger amounts of cash
- Laptops or tablets
- Cameras or other technical devices
- Valuable jewelry
- High-quality watches
- Particularly expensive clothing or accessories
Storage of personal items
At many workplaces, there are areas where employees can leave personal items, for example:
- Break rooms
- Staff rooms
- Locker rooms or storage areas
Please note: These areas are frequently used by multiple employees. Therefore, it cannot always be guaranteed that personal items are completely protected there.
Sometimes lockers are also available. These can usually only be used if you bring your own lock.
Even if such storage options are available, complete protection against loss or damage cannot be guaranteed.
Valuables during work
During physically active tasks, personal items can easily get lost or damaged.
This applies to, for example:
- Jewelry
- Watches
- Delicate electronic devices
During tasks in the warehouse, in the kitchen, or during promotional shifts, such items can also hinder your work. We therefore recommend not wearing valuables during the shift whenever possible.
Clothing during the shift
It is very rare for clothing to get damaged during shifts. Nevertheless, during physically active tasks, for example in the warehouse, during shelf stocking, or in gastronomy, clothing can get dirty or undergo heavier wear and tear.
We therefore recommend wearing comfortable and rather durable clothing for such shifts. It is best to avoid particularly high-quality or delicate items of clothing and instead choose everyday clothes where getting dirty in the worst-case scenario is acceptable.
However, always remember to adhere to the dress code if one is required in the job description. Otherwise, the partner company can send you home unpaid, and you risk a strike.
Consider temperature and work environment
Different temperatures can occur during some shifts; this applies to, for example:
- Promotional shifts outdoors in heat, rain, or cold
- Unheated or drafty warehouses
- Cooling areas in warehouses or supermarkets
Therefore, plan your clothing accordingly and avoid particularly delicate or valuable items of clothing.
In short
- Do not bring valuable items to the shift if possible.
- It is best to leave larger amounts of cash, expensive technology, and jewelry at home.
- Storage areas at the workplace are frequently used by multiple people.
- Your own lock is usually required for lockers.
- Choose clothing that is practical and can withstand heavier wear, provided it complies with the required dress code.
