What documents do I need to work at Zenjob?

Before you can get started with your first job at Zenjob, we need a few important documents from you. In addition to these documents, we also ask for information about your previous working days in the current calendar year, as well as your payroll information.

These details help us to correctly register your employment and comply with legal requirements. In this article, you will find out exactly which documents you need to have ready and what you should pay attention to.

1. Study documents

  • A certificate of enrolment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) for the current semester.

2. Residence documents

If you are a non-EU citizen, you will need one of the following documents:

  • An electronic residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) stating that employment is permitted (work permit).
  • A fictional certificate (Fiktionsbescheinigung) with a note regarding your work permit (either directly on the certificate or with a reference to the previous document).
  • A visa indicating your work permit.
  • Proof of your work permit. If this is not noted directly on your residence permit, you will often find it on the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt or Nebenbestimmungen) attached to your residence permit.

Important: For ID and residence documents, please always upload the front and back of all required documents.

4. Payroll information

So that we can pay you correctly, we need:

  • A European bank account (IBAN & BIC).
  • Your German social security number (Sozialversicherungsnummer).
  • Your German tax ID (Steuer-ID).
  • Information about your tax class (Steuerklasse).

5. Previous working days & employers

If you have already worked for another company in the current calendar year, we also need:

  • The number of days you have already worked this year.
  • The names of your previous employers.

Please note: We can only activate your profile for jobs once we have received all the necessary documents and information in full.
