First of all, we hope you are doing well! If you injure yourself during your shift or on the direct way there, it is considered a workplace or commuting accident (Arbeitsunfall or Wegeunfall).
In such a case, it is important to follow these steps so we can support you in the best possible way and process your case correctly:
1. Inform the partner company on-site
If the accident happens during your shift, make sure to immediately report it to your contact person at the workplace. The partner company must definitely be informed about what happened.
2. Inform us immediately
Please reach out to us as soon as possible after the accident. The best way to do this is via our chat in the Zenjob app. Our system will guide you directly through a questionnaire that you can easily complete.
Tip: Please answer as accurately as possible so we can clarify and fully process your case quickly. Please also reply to any follow-up questions from our team in a timely manner.
3. Visit a doctor and get a sick note (AU)
See a doctor immediately after the accident (for workplace accidents, it is best to see a specialized accident insurance doctor, a so-called Durchgangsarzt or D-Arzt) to have your injury examined. Afterwards, upload your sick note (Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung) in the app.
4. The 3-day rule for your sick note (AU)
As soon as an accident requires official reporting, we will forward the details to our employers' liability insurance association (the VBG). An official accident report is necessary if you are unable to work for more than three days due to the injury (Important: the actual day of the accident is not counted in these 3 days).
There is a very important rule regarding your sick note:
If your inability to work lasts longer than these three days, the "Arbeitsunfall" (workplace accident) box on your medical certificate must be checked by the doctor. Without this specific proof on the AU, the incident unfortunately cannot be officially processed as a workplace accident and reported to the VBG.
5. Cancel future shifts in time
If you cannot attend upcoming shifts due to the accident, you must cancel them in the Zenjob app in a timely manner. Please note that these cancellations must be excused with your medical certificate (AU).
