The break times for the job are regulated and are specified both in the app and on the employment contract, and must also be complied by you. The break times that are also regulated by the Working Hours Act (Arbeitsgesetz) apply here:
§ 4 Arbeitszeitgesetz (ArbZG) "Ruhepausen"
Excerpt: "Work shall be paused by pre-established rest breaks of at least 30 minutes for working hours of more than six but less than nine hours and 45 minutes for working hours of more than nine hours in total. The rest breaks in accordance with clause 1 may be divided into periods of at least 15 minutes each. Employees may not be working for longer than six consecutive hours without a rest break."
However, each company is entitled to extend (but not shorten) the break times.
For example, a company may book you for 6.5 hours. You work 6 hours and still have to take a break of 30 minutes. It may also be that the company wants you to take a full hour break if you work 8 hours. Such regulations are permissible and the break will then be deducted from your wages accordingly. However, we usually point this out in advance. However, it is always important not to fall short of the break times regulated by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Arbeitsschutzgesetz).
Our system always automatically adds the break time stored in your app. Nevertheless, always specify how long you took your break when you check out.
If you shorten your break yourself or skip it because you would rather work to earn more money, the full break will still be deducted.
If you cannot/should not take a break due to the high workload and explicit request of the company, please contact us immediately after your shift. However, we are also in contact with the partner companies and must also take their information into account before we enter a break time in the payroll.
